WELCOME TO THE DESIGN AND TECHNOLOGY DEPARTMENT

During their first three years at Newsome High School all students will participate in courses offered within the Technology Department. All the courses followed by the students share a common underlying philosophy and incorporate similar broad educational objectives - those associated with the solving of relevant and realistic problems. All students follow a course based on the guidelines identified within the National Curriculum "Design and Technology" Orders. The integrated nature of the course demands a wide range of staff expertise to cover CDT, Textiles, and Food Technology, all of which are demonstrated within the Design and Technology team. This approach provides all the students with the opportunities for developing their individual Design and Technological skillsand capabilities as well as appreciating the importance of Design and Technology in society, historically and presents day, its economic, environmental and also industrial responsibilities.
